Frequently asked questions

How do I start tracking a game?

Open the Games tab and tap "Start new game." Choose a player, select a team, enter the opponent and date, pick your period format, and tap Start. Once the game is live, tap the court to log shots and use the counter buttons for rebounds, assists, and other stats.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

The Free tier covers the essentials: tracking one player, recording games, viewing basic stats, and seeing your shot chart.

Pro ($9.99/month or $79.99/year, with a 7-day free trial) unlocks:

How does family sharing work?

Once you're on Pro, go to Settings → Family Sharing and invite up to 10 additional people by email. Each invite is either a Tracker (can track and save games, plus view live games and past stats) or a Viewer (read-only — can follow games in real time and see past stats). Only the family owner can generate reports, upload photos, share or save stat cards, export PDFs, or manage the subscription. The card includes the owner-uploaded player photo, so redistribution rights stay with the owner.

What's the difference between a Tracker and a Viewer?

Trackers can start and save games, edit stats during the game they're tracking, and see all stats and reports — but once a game is saved, it becomes read-only for them. Viewers are read-only across the board — they can follow live games and see past stats, but can't start a game or modify anything. Both roles get push notifications when someone in the family is tracking live.

Only the family owner can edit historical games, delete data, generate AI reports, or share / save / export anything (stat cards, AI report PDFs, AI report text shares, stats PDF). Trackers and Viewers see the read views but no redistribution buttons.

What AI reports does StatSheet Hoops generate?

Pro unlocks four AI-generated coaching report types, all reachable from Insights tab → Reports:

All four are owner-only. Each report can be shared as a designed PDF or as plain text via your phone's native share sheet (owner only).

If you've already generated a Tag or League/Tourney Report and haven't logged any new games tagged with that group since, you'll see "View Latest Report" on the tag or league summary screen — tap it to re-read the saved report. The button switches back to "Refresh" once you've logged enough new tagged games to regenerate.

What are Tags and how do I use them?

Tags are custom labels you create to group games — for example, "AAU Spring", "Conference", "Big games", or anything else that matters to your family. Create tags from More → Tags, then assign one or more tags when you set up or edit a game. Filter your Stats and Insights by tag, open any tag to see aggregate stats for that group, or run a Tag Report to get a coaching write-up scoped to those games.

What's the difference between Tags and League/Tournament?

Tags are flexible, multi-select labels you define ("AAU Spring", "Home", "Showcase"). League/Tournament is a single free-text field on each game ("Westside Rec League", "AAU Nationals 2026") used when a game belongs to one specific competition. Both can be filtered in Stats and Insights; both have dedicated AI reports.

Where can I see Personal Bests?

Open the Insights tab, pick a player, and scroll down. The Personal Bests panel shows season and career highs for points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, 3-pointers, FG%, and FT%, with the date and opponent for each high. The family owner can tap "Share card" or "Save image" to share a designed Personal Bests card.

What does "Season" mean in Personal Bests and Insights?

"Season" is locked to a US school-year cycle: August 1 through July 31. So right now the current season is Aug 2025 – Jul 2026; on August 1, 2026 a new cycle begins. The exact date range is shown under the SEASON column header in Personal Bests.

When a new season starts, your SEASON column resets to "—" until you log a game in the new cycle. Your CAREER column always shows all-time stats, and Stats → "This season" filter follows the same window. If you want a custom 3-month or single-tournament view, use Tags or the League/Tourney field instead — those slice data exactly the way you want without changing what "season" means.

Why doesn't my FG% or FT% show up in Personal Bests?

Shooting percentages need a minimum number of per-game attempts before they count toward Personal Bests, so that a single 1-of-1 game doesn't crown the entire season at 100%. You need at least 3 field goal attempts in a game for it to count toward FG%, and at least 2 free throw attempts for FT%. Games with fewer attempts are excluded from the shooting-% bests but still count toward everything else (points, rebounds, assists, etc.).

How do I configure my tracking hand for live games?

Go to Settings → Tracking Hand and pick Left or Right. This reorders the action buttons in live tracking so the high-frequency stats (rebounds, assists, steals) sit under your dominant thumb for faster logging.

Can I delete multiple items at once?

Yes. Long-press any row on the Tags, Teams, Players, Games, Stats game-log, or Reports History screens to enter selection mode. Tap additional rows to add them to the selection, then tap Delete in the nav bar. Only the family owner can delete data — Trackers and Viewers won't see the swipe or long-press affordance at all.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → ACCOUNT → Delete account. Deletion is immediate — there's no recovery period. If you're the family owner, deleting your account also deletes the family workspace and removes everyone you invited. If you're a Tracker or Viewer in someone else's family, deleting your account just removes your access — the games and players in the owner's workspace stay with them.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open the app, go to Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID that purchased the subscription, Pro will reactivate.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, not inside the app. Go to iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, find StatSheet Hoops, and tap Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Pro access until then.

I logged a shot in the wrong spot. How do I fix it?

Tap the most recent shot on the court to remove it during live tracking. After the game is saved, open the game detail screen and tap "Edit stats" to adjust shot locations and stat counts.

Can I track practices, not just games?

Yes. From the Games tab, tap "Start new practice." You can choose Scrimmage mode (full stat tracking), Spot Drills mode (shot location practice), or Open Shooting mode (free-form shot logging).

My data isn't syncing across devices

Cloud sync requires Pro. Make sure you're signed in with Apple on both devices using the same Apple ID. If the issue persists, email us at support@statsheethoops.app with your Apple ID email and we'll investigate.
